UPS' Delivery Protocol Sucks.

My very nice aunt ordered my an early birthday present and had it sent to me this week. I don't have it yet because, in layman's terms, UPS' delivery protocol sucks.

On Wednesday I got a door tag saying they'd try again Thursday from 2-5 p.m., and after 5 p.m. This happened to work out for me since I had a Comcast service person coming that afternoon. Comcast came; UPS did not. I was home from 2-6:15 p.m. waiting, even prolonging things like doing laundry so I could answer the door if they rang. I left for my evening plans and when I came back I had another door tag, saying they'd be coming by today after 5 p.m.

I made sure to get home by 4:45 only to discover they had actually been by earlier, around 2:15 p.m. Seriously?! I feel like I did everything I could to accommodate those stupid door tags and I am rewarded by having a nice, scenic drive to their facility--on Monday. And here's where it really chafes: to switch the delivery address costs either $4 or $6, depending on how you make the change (phone vs. online). Do I want to pay for the driver to go three miles to my office? NO.

I called today to see if I could make a complaint and was told that "unfortunately, there is no way to make a complaint." Well, UPS, yes there is, and it's called "the Internet." Suck it.

Update: UPS, your protocol may suck, but you have one very nice delivery man under your employ. My buzzer just rang, and when I came to the door he said, "I was still in the neighborhood and I thought I'd see if I could save you a trip." Very nice of him. It does save me a trip!

  2. UGH!!!! I've had this issue with them, they're total liars! All I can suggest if you really want to make a thing out of it (and, frankly, that's how I roll), go to their site or Hoovers.com and find a marketing contact, e-mail or write them and CC with the President name or something. Sometimes complaint letters are actually read! My friend wrote one to Target about their campaign funding, and they did write her back!
